Norton 2009 saves my PC

I have a rush work on my office.. I wrote everything on MSWORD.. out of curiousity.. I have downloaded a powerpoint attachment email from my friend using my Microsoft Outlook.. I am not aware the Powerpoint presentation has an attached virus..
